About Us

What is Borak-Borak Floorball?

Borak-Borak Floorball (BBF) was initiated by a group of three avid floorballers from Penang, Malaysia. The interest sparked off due to a certain passion for the sport and a keen desire to share that passion to others. With that, came the idea of 'borak-borak'.

What does the term "Borak-Borak" actually mean?

"Borak-borak" is a Malaysian lingo that equates to the English word "chit-chat". The phrase is commonly used and has somewhat the power to identify one's identity as a Malaysian. BBF is passionate to 'chit-chat' about the happenings and events of floorball, first in Penang and then the other parts of Malaysia. With that in mind, Borak-Borak Floorball came into existence.

Who are we?

BBF comprises mainly of three suspects under the pseudonyms of Jose, Bendy and Spritzer. However, BBF has also taken in hired-for-free reporters in their effort to cover as many grounds as possible.

NOTE: BBF is not an official website to any organization or governing body. We are merely a group of passionate floorballers who seek to share this passion to others. We strive to be courteous, neutral and honest in our opinions, thoughts, reviews and analyses.

Our vision?

BBF sought to 'talk big' and 'talk much' about floorball. We hope to represent the floorball community in Penang as well as the nation, Malaysia, in the bigger picture. We want to be a voice for floorball in the present and future generation, a voice to be heard not for recognition but for the ultimate growth and development of floorball in Malaysia.

Match Preview: Meet The Ztecs.

Ztec Griffins vs Ztec Phoenix

Date: 3rd Feb 2009 (Tuesday)
Face-off Time: 7.45pm
Venue: Dalat International School

For both teams, it will be their kick-off match. What better way to start the competition by facing your own club mates, eh.

Ztec Phoenix, a team dominated purely by young and enthusiastic male players, seem to have a little more edge aginst Ztec Griffin. Ztec Griffin, a more balanced out team with both male and female players, may seem new to the court but they could well turn the table around.

For the Phoenix, they will capitalize on speed and their athlectic abilities. Being a team with many young guns around, outpacing Griffin will probably be their strongest link to a win. Technically, many of the Phoenix players are still trapped in their football mentality. It could go both ways -- It could be useful if they know when, where and how to apply them aptly according to the game of floorball. Otherwise, it may just be a hindrance to them.

As for the Griffins, it's hard to foresight how they will be playing. A new team with many new players. This could well be their saving grace. Being a new team on the block, other teams will either underestimate them or fear them. A team with nothing to lose on court. Speed may not be their strength as compared to the Phoenix. What may help steer the Griffin for a surprise scoreline would be their spirit and zeal on court. Technically, both Phoenix and Griffin should be at about the same par.

Should be a pretty fair and square game. Considering the fact that both teams are actually teammates, should be interesting to see how they go head-on against one another. It could be a rough & tough match or the total opposite.

Key Player:
Ztec Phoenix:
Adrian Koay, considered to be the most skilled and agile player in the team with a good sense of athletic abilities. Even the coach says he is the man to watch.

Ztec Griffin:
Leo Nard, the goalkeeper, bagged with a reasonable amount of experience behind him. He will be the towering force for Griffin. His experience will help him command his line of defense and he should be able to keep the scoreline decent.

Predictions:
Bendy:
Definitely Phoenix. Should be a one sided game. Phoenix will be too fast and tough for their Juniors, the Griffins to handle. However, the only concern for the medal contenders is having mercy after gain a healthy lead as I foresee goal difference will come in play in the later stages of the league. And it would be interesting to see how both teams and team officials will mentally prepared themselves for the derby.

Jose:
My past 2 predictions have gone really wrong due to incorrect information. This time round i hope i'll get it right. I'm predicting Phoenix to beat their juniors by at least 5 goals if not more. I don't see Yung Ming (Phoenix goalie) being beaten in this game, unless some defensive mistakes occur in the Phoenix defence.

Spritzer:
Hard to say. I would think Phoenix will win but somehow, my gut feeling is telling me Griffin may have a trick or two up their sleeves and may just upset Phoenix. Overall, should be a pretty balanced game.
